The Benchwork Team
Together, we bring over 60 years of experience across design, construction, fabrication, and development. Our mission is simple: to build a fabrication company that is not only exceptional in execution, but reliable, communicative, and easy to work with.
Our story began in 2015, when we met working at a design-build firm in Napa, California. Over the years, what started as a shared mindset evolved into a larger idea, to build something of our own. Having worked across multiple sides of the industry, we saw an opportunity to create a better experience for the teams we partner with. One built on accountability, transparency, and a genuine understanding of the full project lifecycle.
We operate as a hands-on, owner-led team — bringing a shared standard of quality, communication, and accountability to every project we take on.
Flip Filippelli
With over 30 years of experience in fabrication, construction, and facilities operations, Flip leads Benchwork’s shop, fabrication, and installation efforts.
His background spans custom fabrication shops, entertainment production, and design-build environments, including leadership roles overseeing large-scale fabrication facilities and multidisciplinary teams.
Flip brings a deep understanding of materials, construction methods, and shop operations, along with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and quality control. From early estimating through final installation, he ensures every project is executed with precision and accountability.
Director of Fabrication
Matt Vuolo
Matt oversees production, financial strategy, and project coordination across Benchwork Fabrication.
With experience spanning construction management and real estate development, Matt brings a comprehensive understanding of how projects are structured, budgeted, and executed at a high level. His background allows him to anticipate challenges, align teams, and ensure projects stay on track from both a financial and operational perspective.
From client coordination to production oversight, Matt plays a key role in maintaining alignment across all phases of a project ensuring clarity, consistency, and accountability throughout.
Managing Director
Kat leads operations, client experience, and logistics at Benchwork Fabrication.
With over a decade of experience supporting interior design studios and creative businesses, she specializes in translating complex projects into clear, structured processes that support both creative vision and execution. Her background includes leadership roles in design-build environments and creative studios, where she managed project workflows, client communication, procurement, and logistics.
At Benchwork, Kat ensures that every project is supported by clear communication, organized systems, and a seamless client experience from initial inquiry through final delivery.
